Multi-Trade Exterior Project Spotlight: Downers Grove, IL

Harris Roofing, Siding, Windows & Doors recently completed a comprehensive exterior renovation in Downers Grove, IL. The Caldwell home required updates to several key exterior features, including the roof, gutters, windows, and front door. The roof, with two aging layers of shingles, and the garage roof both needed replacement due to their condition.

We began by removing the two layers of shingles and inspecting the decking. A few sheets of plywood were replaced to ensure a solid foundation. We installed Ice and Water Shield at the drip eaves to a width of 72 inches and added #15 felt paper for additional protection. The new roof was finished with Owens Corning Duration shingles in Slatestone Gray, offering long-lasting durability and a sleek look. To improve water drainage, we installed new 5” K-style gutters and oversized 3” x 4” downspouts.

The project also included installing Sierra Pacific 8500 Series vinyl slider windows for improved energy efficiency and style. Additionally, we replaced the front door with a Therma-Tru entry door, adding a modern and secure upgrade. Two rotted porch posts were also replaced, completing the transformation.
